Booths for Heart Raises Awareness and Funds
Posted on 04/22/2021
The 13th annual charity event for the American Heart Association exercised hearts and minds on Wednesday, April 21 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In the years that STA has hosted this charity event, it has raised over $45,000 for heart disease research!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, organizers of this year’s event had to “recreate” the fundraiser and devise a different game plan. The CSAC Hoops 4 Heart committee, led by Carissa Matrale ’21 and Abby Chadwick ’21, developed a new fundraising event called “Booths 4 Heart!” Nine different “heart healthy” booths hosted by CSAC and faculty members provided attendees opportunities for fun, heart healthy activities. The booths varied from a basketball shooting contest in homage to the traditional Hoops for Heart, yoga stretches, promoting positive self-image, rocking heart-healthy dance moves, instruction for simple at-home workouts, laughing your heart to health, and naming that heart song. In addition to raising awareness and promoting heart-healthy lifestyle, the event also raised $2,000 for the American Heart Association.

Thank you to the faculty, alumni, parents, and STA students who participated and volunteered at the event! And thank you to all who came out and supported this great cause.
