Jazz Ensemble

Jazz EnsembleThe Bishop George Ahr High School Jazz Ensemble is an instrumental group comprised of an elite few members of the Concert Band & Orchestra.  Membership in the group is held to enough students to cover 5 saxophone parts, 4 trumpet parts, 4 trombone parts and a rhythm section.

The primary may to become a member of the Jazz Ensemble is direct appointment by the Music Director.  However, the opportunity to audition is made available to all students at the beginning of the school year.

The Jazz Ensemble performs at several school functions over the course of the school year.  In addition, they perform at a 2-night Christmas Concert in December, and a 2-night Spring Concert in May.

This group traditionally practices on Tuesday between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., following the Concert Band & Orchestra practice.

Recent Awards

The Jazz Ensemble took home the First Place trophy at the 2017 Music Showcase Festival Competition in Hershey, PA.

The Jazz Ensemble also won the Instrumental Grand Championship, as the highest rated instrumental group in all divisions.
