Liturgical Offerings

Here at Bishop Ahr High School, students are encouraged to develop themselves spiritually.  We offer students numerous opportunities to develop their relationship with God.

Morning Mass

At 7:30 every morning, morning mass is offered by Fr. Keith in the Chapel to any BGAHS community member who wishes to participate.

Morning Prayers

All members of the BGAHS community join in prayer each day during the homeroom period.  During this prayer time, the special intentions of students, staff and alumni are offered, in addition to listening to a short reflection.

School Masses

Mass is celebrated for the students multiple times throughout the school year, both with their individual classes, and with the school as a whole. Individual grades ordinarily celebrate Mass on both their first and last day of school. The school community gathers together to celebrate Mass on various occasions, such as before Christmas, in celebration of Catholic Schools' Week and on any holy days of obligation.

Liturgical Rituals

Through their religion classes, students have the opportunity to experience various prayer rituals such as the Blessing of the Throats on the Feast of St. Blaise, receiving ashes on Ash Wednesday or taking part in the sacrament of Reconciliation. In addition, during Holy Week, a modern version of the Stations of the Cross is presented as a prayer ritual to each grade level.

Student Organizations

Throughout the year, members of our athletic teams, theatrical productions, musical groups or other clubs and organizations may gather together for a prayer ritual that may include a reading from Scripture, a sharing of intentions and the BGAHS favorite "God is a Good God!" chant.
