Alessandra Valea '09

Alessandra Valea left her mark on Bishop Ahr High School through her devotion to the arts and extracurriculars. It was on the stage of the St. Thomas Aquinas Theater that she found who she was and figured out who she was to become. "I wish I could relive every moment in the 'Little Theater'," she says with affection.

Her highlights were, of course, the many shows that she starred in but the pinnacle was her final performance during the spring musical Into the Woods, when she sang the show's final number "Children Will Listen" to Director Lea Gossett, who was at-the-time pregnant with her first child. "It was the end of an era but also the beginning of a beautiful new one."

Beyond performing in the BGA plays and musicals, she was also involved in the Thespian Society; wrote for the school newspaper, The Satoma; held a position as an executive board member of the Italian Club, took part in the inaugural year of the Club, a group that seeks to empower young women, served on student government for two years, and shared her acting talents with the Bucks County Drama Festivals.

It was the professionalism that surrounded Alessandra's experiences at Bishop Ahr High School that instilled in her the high standards that she maintains to this day. The outstanding production value of each show from the costumes to the sets to the lighting and sound went above-and-beyond and have only improved with each passing year. "I knew that I always had to put my best foot forward."

Alessandra continued her artistic pursuits at The Boston Conservatory, where she graduated Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theater with a triple emphasis in acting, dancing, and choreography while simultaneously performing professionally in Boston. Over the years she has had exciting opportunities to travel all over the world while touring with the Broadway production of West Side Story and continues to work with Broadway choreographers, directors, and performers on current and yet-to-be-staged shows.

Alessandra is currently following her passion as the Artistic Director of the Metuchen Dance Centre in Metuchen, NJ.
